If ACR added a new handgun, which one would you prefer?

Glock 17 (9mm)
Beretta 92FS (M9) (9mm)
Sig P226 (9mm)
Colt M1911 (45 acp) (if the USP becomes 9mm)
CZ 75 (9mm)
Browning Hi Power (9mm)
Colt Python (357 magnum)
Desert eagle (357 magnum not the ridiculous 50 AE)
FN Five-seven (5.7x28mm)

Just downloaded Blender, it might be fun trying to model one of these Big Grin .
A new handgun ? Good idea. There are more and more rifles but no new pistol.
Of course, there is no "ultimate" handgun. But IMO, the closest to "ultimate" is an all-arounder; therefore it has to be reliable, accurate (for a pistol), ergonomic, and ammunition should be easily procured.

My favorite concept pistol is the FN FiveseveN. With 20 5.7x28mm rounds in your clip and potential to have all 20 of those be armor piercing rounds, that's like having a AR-15 in your pocket. I've also heard that the recoil impulse is considered low for a pistol. However, the pistol isnt made for people that aren't king-kong (or so i've heard), and 5.7x28mm rounds are even rarer than flying pigs.

I think my favorite practical pistol will be the Glock 17. The amount of engineering put into Glocks is awesome. It is a pretty light pistol, you get 17 rounds of 9mm (which is considered plentiful) in your magazine, decent accuracy, and Glocks are almost like the AKs of the handgun world for their reliability.

.45s are real manstopping cartridges. They were designed to stop a man with 1 round. However, .45 is sometimes overkill, and there's a lot of recoil with every round. .45 rounds also aren't that common around the world.

Revolvers and the DE are really just for fun guns. You wont see any SF operator running around with those. (Sidenote: I've heard some SF operators use .40 Glock 22s. I guess they're switching from using .45 pistols, though one would assume they still kept the Mk.23 offensive pistol, HK45C, and M45 MEUSOC around)

To each their own ^_^
I'm not going to vote in this poll, mainly because I want to see what everybody else thinks first.

When I meant "ultimate handgun poll" I meant that the poll is ultimate, not the handgun Tongue .

Yeah I used to think the FN FiveSeven was garbage because they don't offer civilian armor piercing rounds... that is until I looked it up and found Elite Ammunition :0 (their ammo is hotter than military ammo). It's still unobtanium and I wouldn't trust it's stopping power even then. Also, I included revolvers and the Deagle because I wanted to throw out the option, not that they are the best combat handguns.

If I were to pick I would be torn between the CZ 75 and the Glock 17, mainly because that the CZ is one of the most ergonomic and accurate pistols and allows cocked and locked like the 1911. But I admit the best combat pistol is the striker fired polymer pistol because of weight, reliability, and having the same trigger pull every time you fire. So I would choose Glock too.
I guess one bad thing about glocks is that some consider the trigger to be crappy. Also, stock Glock sights are a bit less desirable.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@dm.mossberg590a1, one request if you model a pistol is if you could also include the trijicon RMR as the sight. I am a huge fan of red dots; iron sights are outdated in the 21st century -- until there's an EMP wave
That's a surprise, I thought the Glock has well known for its extremely light trigger reset... Yeah the notch style sights is the one of the worst designed sights ever made...

I will probably model three dot fiber optic sights because red dots in ACR suck (I tried the Scar H mod)... the dot is too small and it is hard to see and the background is obscured by the big sight. In real life red dots work because you don't have to close one eye and blur your vision, but in a game it's just a nuisance.

If it is possible to make a big glowing red dot sight and a suppressor for the pistol, then maybe I will try...

Too bad there isn't preexisting models of the M&P....
I probably am wrong on the Glock trigger reset. My experience is more of the AR-15 family. Now that I read more of it online, seems like stock Glock triggers are great out of the box (~5lbs trigger pull, consistent)

I understand what you mean about the RDS problem. Yeah, the frames of some RDS sights are really thick so that they can be durable. If you can model the red dot to be bigger so that there's a distinct dot, that would be awesome.

Of course, no outer black ring

Nice M&P pic. Although I've read that M&Ps dont quite stack up to Glocks. Here's a defensereview article about it.

If M&Ps don't stack up to Glocks I wonder why some police agencies are dumping the Glock for the M&P? <_< The Glock is a really good gun, but the M&Ps definitely compete on the same level as it.

I prefer the M&P's chamber indicator because if you look at the chamber indicator and see the round in there, you know 100% that the gun is loaded. No need for press checks which potentially might make the gun fail.

The accuracy problem I think was resolved... also installing a threaded Storm Lake barrel for suppressor is preferable anyway... yeah, M&Ps and suppressors is like bread and butter Big Grin

Sigh... maybe quality models will come out once rappers start catching on to it like the Glock... I definitely can't model a M&P from scratch anyway so I didn't even put it on the poll...

A M&P Pro CORE series tricked out with a Trijicon RMR and suppressor would have so much swag....

Of course, every officer should have a choice on what he carries.

On paper, the specs look like an improvement from Glocks. The loaded chamber indicator is a welcome addition, though when it fails in lab testing, that raises some eyebrows. Doesnt the Glock now come with a loaded chamber indicator? The extractor has a bump on it when you're loaded. Of course, witnessing brass in your chamber is a surefire way to know if you're loaded, but there's a chance of error.

Did they finally address the barrel problem? It looks like from the website that the newer barrels on the M&P are a definite improvement. It might be kinda unsettling knowing that you have to replace your barrel out of box to have a good pistol though.

Of course, you can tweak video game performance of the M&Ps. To me, it looks similar to the FNP's, greatest difference is the absence of the hammer in striker-fired M&P.

BTW, Silencerco Ospreys. Smexy

Great stats on paper for the M&P though. I just hope I get to compare it to the FNPs and Glocks sometime.
bumpity bump bump

I saw a youtube video about somebody shooting Glocks and M&Ps in water and the Glocks failed a lot more than the M&Ps. Also Glock Gen 4s had tons of feed problems when it first came out so basically all new designs have their quirks and problems, but generally they do get fixed.

It seems like the Glocks are winning right now and nobody is caring to challenge that so I guess I'll start grabbing Glock models from the sites listed in the Beginning modeling forum. If you don't want a Glock, start voting!
