Aw man, that sucks. Even though both sides don't really like each other, I only found ACR because of AC (great PR work Victor, cuz even I forgot how I found ACR)
of course, I dont think anybody's going to add some compatibility with Windows 8 anytime soon. =/
BTW, does this mean you guys can start modding off of AC's 1.1.0.4 or 1.2 releases? Or is ACR already using 1.1.0.4?

I highly doubt we will rebase off of a newer release. We are too different already to do that. I liked AC, though I think ACR is better. I played AC for years before finding ACR. I'm sorry to see it go; though hopefully it will bring us lots of new users, modders, and maybe even developers.

I highly doubt that AC is going to be gone just because of denial of service attacks when it is such a widely played game (it is in the repositories of Ubuntu and other Linux distros and is one of the rare Linux games out there).... I played AC before I even knew ACR, I only found ACR through browsing SourceForge... I wouldn't be surprised if they simply strengthen their code (probably by copying our anti denial of service code) and relaunch the servers...

@{ak}bluwarguy it's the "AssaultCube 1.0.4 has DIED" result that was from long ago, and it only meant they were forcing an upgrade.
I'm still clueless as to what has happened to them, but I've already said my guess: they are probably doing this so that they can extort ACR to give them some members' IP addresses.

I highly doubt it is a ploy for anyone's IP. Didn't epiczombie give them his IP anyways who else's IP do they want? I think they really are down because of DOS problems.
