Situational Awareness regarding Epic's .WAV sounds
Hi all,

I've really liked Epic's BF2 sound port, partly because I play a lot of BF2 for the teamwork aspect. I had a lot of lag and blue screens while playing with Epic's .WAV sounds though. I've heard that you can convert the .wav sounds to .ogg sounds for slightly less lag, but then Damian and Mossy have told me that the sounds aren't dynamic, ie, you can't really distinguish where the sound came from.

Is there a way to fix this? The current AC sounds are a bit bland for my taste.

Hiya asmanel,

No, I havent yet. There's probably converters online, but the only experience I have with music is ripping songs from CDs. Hehe.

Are you currently using xDEpicZombie's sound pack?

The easiest way to convert .wav to .ogg is with the VLC.You probably have it.And the second thing, ogg files take less room and they should help you get rid off the lag!

Hi there sir Epic,

K, i'll convert the files with VLC. How about the dynamic sound thing though? Like for instance, if someone shoots a pistol to my left, will i hear it more on my left? or will i just hear the entire sound on my headphones?

I just guess, so never mind, but as far as I know the sound is done by SDL/OpenAL and that because they should be dynamic (eg if someone shoots at your right a new sound source appears there and plays that sound).
But remember, not shure.

This has been moved to the modding section.

Also, he wrote this for his sound pack:

so did they really come from Battlefield 2?
