I really don't understand why do You guys fuck the AK so much.Have any of You fired it????Well I have(m4 too) and it doesn't have that bad recoil.M4 isn't that much better either.They are quite equal,as I must say AK47 has less recoil than M4.If we talk about AK,it was made to be lightweight,easy to clean,easy to take apart and put it together,accurate and ofcourse CHEAP.It is the most seld Firearm ever made.AK47 also is with very high fire rate.Full auto mode-impossible to fire only one shot.In ACR fire rate is VERY VERY LOW.I must say that the recoil should be a bit lower and M4/M16 should be equal with AK47.Just tthat M4 has lower fire rate.You can't make realistic game by leading to other games,movies and stories about AK.A lot of people hate it but actually it is the best rifle ever made.Look at the Scar-l/h.It is more accurate but so hard to clean.In real life in real battlefield first days maybe months are sucsessful with it,but then thers some shit in the barell and so on and on.AK totally owns.

Yes, I have fired a civilian legal AK (Century Arms WASR-10: CA compliant). The recoil is much stronger than the AR-15 (which I have also fired). I strongly suspect that you have shot a AK-74 or later variant (5.45x39mm). Look at the AKs, from geometry and simple physics, we see that the recoil from the action isn't in line with your shoulder, causing the recoil to go over your shoulder, thus increasing felt recoil b/c the weapon wants to go up.
I will debate with you about the AK vs M-16. IMO, the M-16 weapon system is the better rifle. The M-16 is the pinnacle of firearms engineering. I can take down my AR-15 in 10 seconds, and it all is simple to do. The AK is also NOT light. Are you kidding me? The M-16 is made with polymers and aluminum+other metals. A majority of AKs weigh more than the M-16. The accuracy and range of the AK is CONSIDERABLY lower than the M16 rifle. The maximum effective range for the AK is around 200 meters. With the M16, you could go out to about 500 meters and maintain acceptable accuracy.

Anyways, the recoil should be raised. If you have shot a firearm, you know that there's more recoil than current in ACR. Right now, i'd say there's less recoil than there is in a .22 rifle.

Now for the debate.

From physics calculations (i wont get into too much detail), the AK's 7.62x39mm round has much more recoil and force compared the the M-16's 5.56x45mm NATO round.

The AK is totally not the best rifle ever made. It is one of the most durable and cheapest rifles you can get, and has a lot of bang for your buck. However, it is an inferior weapon system (if it even qualifies as one). The SCAR L/H are lightyears ahead of the AK. The SCAR series is subMOA accurate, EASY TO CLEAN (where did you get the notion that it's hard? Have you handled one or even field stripped one?), and more reliable than the AK because of engineering (yes, you made me compare a modern rifle to a rifle that was innovative in 1940s). SOCOM did not buy a crappy weapon for it's forces. People use the AK only cuz they can't buy a better weapon system.

IMO, the best weapon system is the M16. Sure, people say it's unreliable b/c of the direct impingement system. Have you ever shot? Seriously, I have never had a malfunction b/c of the gas system. the DI system is also much lighter and accurate than Piston systems. The M16 has the BEST ergonomics of a rifle. I doubt you have ever used a M16 system, because you will love it once you use it.

All of my arguments are based on my firsthand experience, not from movies and CoD (I hate cod)

I will always love the M16, but you will see me use the AK in game. I do use the SCAR H skin b/c I prefer a harder hitting weapon that rewards you for accuracy. I may switch to the M16 if I prefer to have faster followup shots in the coming update.

I added the changes last night to make recoil more, doubled, in hardcore mode, but I think that it may be a little too much. Anyone who can build/test want to see if they think the same? I can give you a build for linux, but cross-compiling is broken currently so I can't get any windows builds.

Indeed,You win.It was 74.Still i think that AK-s firerate should be faster.I personally dont know how to take the M16 apart but I can do it with my eyes closed with my uncles Ak74.AND finally I think that weapon recoil should be realistic and high in normal mode too!!

xdEpicZombie I'm not sure we should be changing the default experience that much. Run & Gun is one of the more fun things about ACR and I think it should still stay as an option.

Agreed. Run & Gun should remain in the game. It'll help draw in new players who love CoD (and gives me more targets to shoot at. xD) and be an easy beginner mode for them.

The higher recoil/realism setting will be in the Hardcore mode so that if we're way too bored, we can play with reduced HUD, higher recoil, and maybe even w/o perks.

I have coded the reduced HUD into the hardcore mutator. It gives you an option to restore HUD elements to render the HUD cheat useless.

By default, you will lose all non-essential parts, plus the crosshair.

This means that you lose these HUD elements: streak meter, team (see the scoreboard), perk, distance, health

I have fixed the recoil method (since it had a bug in it), and the recoil values need to be changed.
