@rXn, projectiles completely replace hitscans in Red Eclipse. In AC, the grenade is a projectile, but bullets are hitscans. Red Eclispe pretty much makes all bullets just like grenades.
However, if I create Real Eclipse, I would move the collision detection to the server side to reduce cheats. Should we leave ACR to do Real Eclipse? Or should we stay and focus on ACR? Maybe we could do both at the same time, but it would result in a split in the community. Best regards,

I would vote to stay on ACR, but I'll help with Real Eclipse(as long as we can continue work on ACR also).
I don't think the copyright issue should be that much of an issue anymore. I have not seen any real problems since I joined except that AC forums hate us. If we already have some projectiles and the other things seem to be purely graphical. I do not think that should be our primary focus for now. I think there is still a large amount of things we can do with this engine without the bloat that would come with an upgrade. |

would someone like to start a facebook group? The page is nice, but I know AC haters go there too.
After playing Halo Combat Evolved again, I'm really impressed at how such a game that has a light footprint give spectacular gameplay. So i do agree, this engine still has a lot of potential, even if we have found several limiting factors to the engine (smoke, other things you guys talk about but i dont understand) DSO

I wonder if cube 1 and 2 are using the same/similar network protcol - if they do (or we could make them do) it would be possible to continue both.
There has already been a thread about Cube 2 in the suggestion part. I think today ACR is that far and feature-rich that there is now the point to switch to Cube 2 OR to improve Cube 1 AS THEY DID IN CUBE 2. ![]() @Victor: I did not take a look at ACs code, just saw that projectile stuff in Sauerbraten, sorry. Btw, could you please upload the (still "Red" at this point, I think) Eclipse source to any of the mirrors so it could be downloaded without all that big textures stuff? ![]() The C Programming Language: combines the flexibility of assembly language with the power of assembly language.

well, if we do make the switch, could i be a map maker? also, we should focus on both ACR and RealEclipse. That way, we can all agree. Or you (Victor) could give primary control to Ruler since he still wants that to be worked on. So, we would still have ACR. By the way, it would be fine for there to be a split so long as ACR is still being developed. I hear some people refuse to upgrade from CS 1.6 to Source... So it might be the same thing here.
